Victron Multi RS19 Solar: High-frequency, lightweight inverter / charger in 19" rack size

The Multi RS19 Solar is the new 19-inch rack-mountable version of the Victron Multi RS Solar and the latest addition to Victron’s lightweight, high-frequency inverter/charger range. Designed to simplify installation, it combines the familiar performance of the Multi RS Solar with a rack format that is particularly well suited to compact residential, commercial and professional energy-storage systems.

The unit is a 48V/6kVA inverter/charger equipped with two independent 3kWp MPPT solar trackers. Each tracker accepts a PV input voltage of 65–450V DC, providing a total supported solar capacity of up to 6kWp. This makes the Multi RS19 Solar suitable for both grid-connected and off-grid applications.

In grid-connected systems, it supports Dynamic ESS, allowing energy use, battery charging and grid interaction to be managed according to electricity prices, consumption patterns and available solar production. It can also be combined with AC-coupled solar inverters of different types or capacities. Any additional PV power connected on the AC side can be regulated automatically through the Multi RS frequency-shift power-control function.

The Multi RS19 Solar can also operate as a directly grid-connected solar inverter without batteries. This gives installers and system owners the flexibility to begin with a simpler PV system and add battery storage later as requirements change.

For off-grid installations, the unit provides a compact and lightweight solution that keeps the batteries charged while supplying additional power during periods of higher demand.

One of the main advantages of the Multi RS platform is its high-frequency technology. Compared with traditional low-frequency inverter/chargers, it offers a much lighter design while maintaining high efficiency, quiet operation and low standby consumption.

The new 19-inch format also makes installation faster and more organized. All connections are positioned at the front, while the SurLok DC terminals are compatible with the type of high-current connectors used by many popular ESS batteries. This can help reduce cabling complexity when the inverter and batteries are installed in the same rack.

System performance and settings can be monitored through the integrated display or the VictronConnect app, which also provides access to historical data and operating trends. For more advanced control, the Multi RS19 Solar can be connected to a GX device such as the Cerbo GX.

With a GX device, the system can support advanced ESS functions such as zero-export operation, which prevents surplus energy from being fed into the grid, and backup operation, which keeps selected critical loads powered during a grid outage.

By combining solar charging, battery management, grid interaction and backup capability in a compact rack-mounted format, the Multi RS19 Solar offers a flexible solution for modern residential and commercial energy systems.
