Orion XS update: Emergency reverse charging

Victron has added an emergency reverse charging function to the Orion XS range with firmware version 1.15. If the starter battery is too discharged to start the engine, the charger can use energy from the auxiliary battery to recharge it. The update supports the Orion XS 12/12-50A, 12/12-70A and 1400 models and requires VictronConnect version 6.43.

Once normal charging has stopped, the function can be activated from the Status screen in the VictronConnect app. The Orion XS charges the starter battery for 15 minutes, then stops for a five-minute settling period. During this pause, you can try starting the engine. The charger also reduces the reverse charging current if the auxiliary battery voltage drops too low.
